20/11-2025 New Release: Colombia Finca Monteblanco

New Release: Colombia Finca Monteblanco – “Sorbete de Frutas Tropicales”

As winter settles over Småland and the snow quietly covers the landscape, there’s nothing better than a cup of coffee that transports you to warmer places. And that’s exactly what our new rarity from Finca Monteblanco in Colombia does – a coffee that tastes more like a tropical dessert than something you’d pour into your mug on a weekday morning.

An Explosion of Tropical Flavours

This microlot is something truly special. Creamy, full-bodied and bursting with vibrant notes of yoghurt, mango, passion fruit, vanilla and ice cream – yes, you read that right. The flavour profile is so intense and fruity that it almost resembles a sorbet made from tropical fruits.

The secret? An innovative co-fermented process that gives the coffee its unique character.

The Farm Behind the Flavour

Finca Monteblanco is located in the rolling mountains of Huila, Colombia, at 1,730 meters above sea level. The farm is run by Rodrigo Sánchez Valencia together with his family. Rodrigo is a third-generation coffee grower known for his passion for developing experimental processes and distinctive microlots.

At Monteblanco, the rare variety Caturra Púrpura is cultivated – a colourful variant of Caturra that stands out from the start. When combined with Rodrigo’s innovative work at the processing station Aromas del Sur, the result is a coffee that shines even in the specialty coffee world.

What Does Co-Fermented Mean?

Co-fermentation is a relatively new and exciting method in coffee processing. Instead of letting the coffee cherries ferment solely with their own microorganisms, natural ingredients – such as fruits or spices – are added during fermentation.

It’s not the same as infusion, where flavours are added afterwards. In co-fermentation, the aromas are integrated during the process itself, creating a deeper, more complex and naturally fruity flavour profile.

This is precisely why this cup tastes like a tropical sorbet – not like a traditional coffee.
