Experience the magic of coffee from the heart of Costa Rica with our new Sonora. This Single Origin coffee comes from the historic Hacienda Sonora farm, located in the Central Valley, where the coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,300 meters, combining tradition and innovation in every cup. 

Flavor Profile:
Sonora offers a well-balanced and complex cup with rich berry flavours and a subtle hint of wine-like sweetness. This unique flavor profile is the result of the gentle natural processing method, where the coffee berries are sun-dried with their skins, which highlights their natural sweetness and intense aromas. 

About the farm: 
Hacienda Sonora has been in the Guardia family for over a century and is currently run by Alberto Guardia. The farm has become an icon in the region thanks to its commitment to sustainability and experimental processing methods, which have raised the quality of the coffee to exceptional levels. More than 20 different coffee plant varieties are grown on the farm’s 80-hectare coffee fields, which are complemented by an additional 20 hectares of nature reserve. 

The coffee in Sonora is of the Venecia variety, a natural mutation of Bourbon, discovered in Costa Rica in the 1950s. This varietal, which is particularly adapted to the region’s climate and can withstand strong winds, contributes to the complexity and balance that characterizes Sonora. 

Craftsmanship and passion: 
The history of Sonora is a story of innovation and passion. When Alberto Guardia invested in a mill to process the coffee on the farm in the 1990s, Hacienda Sonora became a pioneer in alternative processing methods such as Honey and Natural Process. Today, the farm is a meeting place for coffee lovers from all over the world.
