Coffee tastes best when it is fresh. This applies not only to roasting, but very much also to grinding. When coffee is ground, aromas are released – and shortly after, both flavour and fragrance begin to change.
That is why we are currently testing a new way of working together with selected local retail partners: grinding the coffee directly in-store, just before purchase.
The result is coffee with improved freshness, richer aroma and a more vibrant experience – while the smell of freshly ground coffee becomes a natural part of the shop environment.
“The aroma of freshly ground coffee makes a real difference in the shop”
The project is based on close collaboration with smaller, quality-focused shops where both product and customer experience are central.
The first installation took place at Kosta Delikatessbutik in the Kingdom of Crystal, where the grinder is now part of daily operations. Delikatesshimlen in Lund and Annerstad Lanthandel in Ljungby have since joined the project.
By working together, we can develop the concept step by step and adapt it to real needs in the retail environment.
When choosing coffee, customers can have the beans ground directly according to their preferred brewing method – for example filter coffee, French press or espresso. The grind size can be adjusted precisely, allowing the coffee to be used immediately at home.
In this project we use the ECM Drogheria 85 grinder – a model developed for professional use and one that we also use in our own roastery.
The grinder is reliable, precise and easy to operate in everyday shop environments. It enables freshly ground coffee of consistent quality without making daily work more complicated for staff.
This initiative is part of our long-term effort to strengthen collaboration between small businesses and create added value throughout the entire chain – from producer to end customer.
When more actors collaborate around quality and knowledge, better conditions are created for local retail and vibrant shop environments, also outside larger cities.
For the customer, this means better coffee.
For the shop, a clearer profile and a more engaging environment.
For us as a roastery, closer collaboration with our partners.
The project is supported by Coompanion Kronoberg through TillväxtKronan and demonstrates how small businesses can work together to test new approaches in a sustainable way.
Our goal is to develop a concept that can grow over time – always in dialogue with the shops and customers who use it.
We look forward to continuing to develop freshly ground coffee in-store together with our partners.
