RARITY: “Ecuador Galápagos” (200g)

Coffee from the Galápagos Islands is something truly special – not only because of its flavour, but above all because of its extraordinary origin.

This coffee is grown on the island of San Cristóbal, around 1,000 kilometres off the coast of Ecuador. The first coffee plants were introduced here in the late 19th century, and Bourbon coffee is still cultivated today in the island’s young, nutrient-rich volcanic soil.

The unique microclimate is influenced by the cold Humboldt Current, which gives the islands a milder climate than one might expect so close to the equator. The coffee grows beneath shade trees such as avocado, guava and orange, in a sensitive and protected ecosystem where chemical pesticides and artificial fertilisers are prohibited.

This washed coffee has a full body, fresh citrus acidity and fruity notes of stone fruit. A balanced coffee with a fascinating origin – for those who enjoy discovering coffees from far beyond the usual growing regions.
